Pet Plus contains active enzymes from dehydrated, concentrated raw food.

It has already begun to have an impact on the overall health of dogs and cats in USA, where it has been available since October 1996 (known as Juice Plus for Cats).
It is prepared from raw plant material, including flax seeds yeast, probiotic bacteria and enzymes with added taurine and liver for cats in the their version.
It would ideally be fed with a raw food diet but would help animals on processed foods even more. The tub should last a cat around 3 months and a medium sized dog one month. If your companion will not eat raw vegetables this is a must.

Pet Plus contains the following ingredients.
Let me explain a little more about them and the reasoning behind them.

Probiotics : Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus plantarum

These are the 2 most important species of Lactobacillus in the dog and cat. They are naturally found in the digestive tract of of healthy animals, these microorganisms help defend the body against against invading pathogenic bacteria. They do this by producing lactic acid and keep the colon slightly acid to prevent the growth of harmful organisms furthermore Lactobacillus are known to produce several antibiotic compounds to further inhibit the growth of pathogens.
It is very common to use broad spectrum antibiotics in veterinary medicine nowadays which kill off the friendly Lactobacillus and other friendly bacteria as well as the harmful ones (pathogens). This results in a unhealthy flora in the gut. Supplementation with Pet Plus or other sources quickly returns things to normal. Lactobacillus organisms have also been shown to reduce symptoms of lactose intolerance, regulate bowel movements and reduce diarrhoea.

Alfalfa is considered highly nourishing and id a rich source of many trace minerals in addition to providing minerals including iron magnesium and chromium and vitamins B, C and beta carotene. Chlorophyll has been shown to have a cleansing detoxifying and reducing odours.

Barley and wheat grass are important cereal grasses. They are harvested early to function as prebiotics to maintain the health of the probiotic friendly bacteria. They also provide vitamins and minerals comparable to green leafy veg. These green foods contain ß carotene, vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavine, vitamin B6 folic acid, calcium, iron and numerous other minerals and essential phyto-nutrients.
Additionally these grasses supply antioxidant activity: a substance called 2'-O-glycosylisovitexin in barley grass has been shown to have an anti-oxidant activity greater than Vitamin E. Antioxidant nutrients are important in maintaining health largely 'cos of their role in neutralising 'free radicals', a major cause of disease. They cannot work in isolation so a whole food source is essential.

Flax seed/safflower petals are rich natural sources of the essential fatty acids, which play a crucial role in the maintain of a healthy skin and coat as well as reducing allergy responses. Essential fatty acids are as the name suggest essential to the healthy metabolism of all animals being present in cell walls.

Taurine is an important supplement for cats who cannot make sufficient quantities of this amino acid. Cats require taurine for bile production and vision among other things. Cats fed a taurine deficient diet will show poor weight gain and growth, brain problems and poor eyesight and even heart failure. Is is not present in many meats and this is reduced further if the meat is cooked. Rodents contain large quantities of the amino acid so a cat fed a really natural diet of whole mice and rats would not suffer from Taurine deficiency!
